You find information that you simply can't fathom and think you are probably not recognizing something.
I love Troy James, he's got a big frame and should easily hold the weight needed to place inside. Has a very good first step but uses his hands extremely well to slide through OL.
Looking at James though and thinking...how many guys have we signed that we absolutely knew were going to be interior DL guys under Gill, Weis, and Beaty out of high school...
Jeremiah Edwards-ended up not being able to play due to a medical condition
Tyler Holmes-didn't finish out his eligibility due to off field stuff
Lay'Trion Jones-freak back injury took him off field for his career
DJ Williams-still working to figure out how to play with consistency, tons of ability
Troy James-still a year away from getting to campus
I just listed 4 signed kids that span over 7 signing classes, 2010-2016. The focus of the 2 previous recruiting boards (directly ordered by the head coaches despite multiple assistant coaches feeling focus should be in other areas) is hard to comprehend.
Sure kids like Keba, Goodman, and Wise were flipped inside for different amounts of time but they were far from definite interior DL out of high school. This is probably more pathetic than the issue with few high school OL signed in the same period.
