But I have said a few times I think not having a QB that can take Jalon’s job at any moment on the team has hurt Jalon. How can you accurately practice game pressure if you aren’t scared of the guy behind you pushing you to be better/fighting for the starting role?
Jalon has been a huge bummer this year. But Ballard isn’t going to win us games and Marshall is not close to ready.
We should have gone and got a QB in the portal and Lance pushing all his chips in on Jalon (knowing if he gets hurt you don’t have a viable back up or if this type of stuff happens where he isn’t playing good football) was a huge mistake.
In college there is always a couple of good QBs on the roster competing even if there is an incumbent. But college football changes on a dime with the QB position all the time. We don’t have that luxury. And in the NFL, you have to perform or you’re done so fast. Jalon faces none of that constant competitive pressure that I believe QBs need to perform at their best.
