There is a rythm to the regular season which is familiar to Coach and the team. A game against WSU, besides helping replace the MU rivalry for fans, adds a pressurized dimension where you only get one game for year long bragging rights. While not identical, the pressure is similar to the NCAA tournament. We would do well to face some "underdogs with stakes" games before the NCAA tournament so our guys are not so stunned by the tournament pressure of facing underdogs.
I understand what Coach means when he says there is nothing to gain by playing them but he is wrong. I submit losses to underdogs in the tournament as the basis...it would not eliminate all of them but at least we would be better prepared.
On a side note, great competitors will take on all comers. So why do we embrace this pretty much all season but avoid MU and WSU??
