Quick Take: I call this a Jim Panagos special. Panagos has been around the block and knows what he is looking for.

He took Blake Herold and knew what he could develop into, and I think he sees the same thing in Anderson.

Anderson went on his unofficial visit this weekend and told me it was unlike anything he has seen.

“It was like nothing I've never seen before. It was crazy. It's like a whole new experience. The hospitality was great.”

He had offers from KU, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and UNLV. But the recruiting Panagos did, distanced Kansas from the other schools. He told me Panagos was more consistent compared to the other coaches recruiting him.

Anderson liked the energy he saw from the fans at the basketball game. He said he had never seen anything like that.

Breakdown: I really like the film on Anderson, and I think he projects to be the type of guy Herold did that I mentioned above.

When Herold arrived, he was undersized, but he added weight and developed. I think he will play a lot of snaps over the next three years.

Anderson is bigger than Herold was and I think he will move inside. He has the athletic ability right now to play on the edge in high school. His team plays an odd front and uses a stand-up defensive end. It is like a LB/DE they creep up on the line.

Anderson plays a true defensive end and puts his hand on the ground. One of his most impressive plays on film was playing tight end where he gets open in the middle of the field for a big gain.

For a player that is 270 pounds he stops and changes direction better than I would have thought. He turns and makes plays on receivers in the open field. He uses his hands well and doesn’t stay wired to blocks.

He said Panagos broke down his film and told him this:

“He loves my physicality, my speed off the ball and my effort. I never give up. Even if the play's done, I never give up.”

What this means: I’ve said this in my breakdowns they are picking up so many early commitments it is difficult to predict how many interior players they take. After this season they lose D.J. Withers, Tommy Dunn
