Living in Maryland, I'm a season ticket holder for the Naval Academy. Found out this morning that the opening home game opponent cancelled today due to Covid. Lafayette from the Patriot League was the opponent.
The reasoning is "Lafayette is unable to play the game because its team would not be back on campus with enough time to meet FBS medical advisory guidelines." according to the ESPN article I pulled up.
They are required to drive to games this year and apparently the 3 hour or so drive back home puts Lafayette back late enough at night that they somehow would be in violation of the Patriot League or FCS protocols. I don't fully understand that aspect yet.
Fall season will be interesting to see what happens across the D-1 spectrum, this being one example.
