Anyone here change careers after their 40th birthday? I’ve been pondering making a career change over the past year, but apprehensive about the move.

This past year was a difficult one for me personally from a job/life perspective. Without giving up to much personal history I can give a little backstory though of where I’m at.

The stress and anxiety finally caught up to me this past May. I had told myself I wasn’t going back to that situation and that I would be making some changes. Luckily I have a very loving and supportive wife and son. I’ve been getting necessary help for some of my issues, but my job situation needs to change. I’ve become burnt out

Career-wise, I have been in the landscape service industry for nearly 20-years. Both in sales and in production. Currently I’ve been managing a large landscape/turf department in Blue Springs. I roughly have 50+ guys under me. I also have worked as an account manager.

I’ve thought about staying in sales or even in an account managing role, but not sure how my experiences translate to other industries.

In college (many moons ago) I studied history and sports management. While I love both, I think it’s a little late to get into teaching and found a sports management field as appealing but very limited with job opportunities.

If anyone has any life experiences dealing with this type of change or have any feedback about what they did, I would appreciate the dialogue. It’s one thing making a change at 30 years old but being 43 and making a change seems daunting.
