So, obviously we were all wrong about Grimes. I was right about Jalon’s rust and when he shook it off our offense has been incredible. Some questionable plays but it’s just an OCs nature. Lynch should’ve gotten the ball on 2nd and goal in the Super Bowl. Neal should’ve gotten the ball every time in the red zone within 5 yards. Both didn’t happen, we will never really know why OCs do stuff like this but it happens across the country.
The much more interesting discussion is Borland. This happens every year. We look sharp, we disappoint, we bounce back, we look great. College defenses will never look fantastic unless you’re a handful of schools. Borland just held 2 explosive offenses to their 2nd and 1st lowest scoring games of the season. We make obvious improvements. And then it seems to reset. How do we fix this? How do we just sustain this success on D? I think it’s an issue of the portal and players needing time to mesh as a unit and they all graduate/transfer/go pro and we are left bringing in more guys that take time to mesh? @JK what are your thoughts? Borland goes from fire-able to saving his job in our eyes every season.
