This is the big weekend and although not many spots remain the Kansas coaches could basically wrap up the class with a solid showing.
The updated names are HERE
Obviously the three biggest targets appear to be Darren Jackson, Antonio Cole, and Quan Hampton.
Hampton reached out to me last night and told me he broke his nose in his basketball game on Tuesday night.
The staff was targeting a bigger receiver but I get the feel they are confident Kenyon Tabor fills that spot and they don't need any more help there. So for now, Hampton is the guy to watch.
The coaches have been all over the place. I know yesterday Zach Yenser was in Arkansas and then started this morning is Austin, TX.
Yenser offered Ty Clary yesterday from Fayetteville. Clary is an OL who has Air Force, Tulsa, KU, Cincy and others. This one will be interesting to watch because KU making a late push and the in-town Razorbacks.
"Coach Yenser seems like great and I like him," Clary said. "This is my first Power Five offer so I am excited. Right now I am not 100% certain on a visit yet."
Clary just came off his visit to Tulsa last week. But the sleeper in the whole recruiting could be Arkansas. There is some talk the Razorbacks really like him and could try for a blueshirt. He can walk to campus from his house. I get the feel Yenser is doing everything he can to get Clary an official the last two weekends. But nothing is set. It might be a tall task to come in this late but we will see.
Speaking of OL keep an eye on Edd Becton from Hazelwood Central and Drew Bones from Ottawa. I think the staff will be creative in recruiting these guys. There is a possibility one or both could be a factor and counted in this group. Becton told me he plans to visit on the 27th.
I have removed Carson Terrell from the list for this weekend. I'm not closing the book on him because Bradford has been keeping him warm but he has offers to look at from other places and KU might not go that direction. If Hampton doesn't pick KU after the weekend that could change.
The staff has been looking at an H-back and Caleb Huntley from Georgia is still a slight possibility but I think chances are dwindling. I think the staff will do something else. At least that's what I think for now. Plus McQuillan and Cooper Root will be guys who I believe will start off at H-back.
This is a good mix with players like Dom, Tabor, Dineen, Topps who have been committed for a while to be on the visit to talk with the recruits who have yet to decide.
Sources have told me that Brad Stewart has changed course and will likely not visit. The word I got is Stewart was going to have an in-home visit with the coaches either yesterday or today and has canceled the visit. I don't expect Stewart to remain a target that I will continue to follow.
I can also report all of the newcomers have arrived and are on campus.
