I would do away with the One and Done rule and allow the NBA to draft any player without the requirement that the player declare. If a player opts for college, he wouldn't be eligible to be drafted until after his second or third year in college.
If it's good enough for Major League Baseball, it should work for the NBA.
Okay, if you're LeBron or Kobe, forget college, but most top 50 high school players have an inflated view of their NBA draft stock. Once they get over the shock of not being drafted, it might be easier to get them to buy in to spending 2 or 3 years in school.
Perry Ellis would know exactly where he stands with the NBA if he could be drafted without committing to go pro, and Bill Self wouldn't be put in the position of trying to gauge his NBA draft stock.
