I
re- watched the game yesterday and there were some questionable calls
against Wisconsin but that is the way "the ball bounces or not in
college basketball today."
There is way too much physical play and it will not change until the following happens.
1) Eliminate hand checking. In other words no putting you hands on the player as he is moving.
2) Reduce the clock to 30 seconds or less.
3) Widen the key as there is way too much physical banging going on under the basket.
4) Establish clear and defensible rules for what is charging. It is the most inconsistently called play in basketball.
5) Make all refs full time and employed by the NCAA and not conferences
so there are more consistent plays. There are some really bad refs out
there.
6) Establish a clear set of rules for flagrant fouls. My
suggestion is that anytime a player raises his elbow at or higher than
his shoulder and comes into contact with another player it is an
automatic flagrant foul, no questions asked.
These rules would help to clean up the game.
