Was flying RT to Tucson about two weeks after 9/11. Both inbound and outbound, anybody who even looked “Muslim“ was pulled out of line by security, kids included, and given a max search. I saw some people I knew were Asians of varied dress and religions. They seemed particularly confused by the process. The paranoia then seems to have persisted and grown like a viral cancer. Accompanied by a growing distrust and incivility throughout our culture with both government and those with whom we disagree. I fear for the 2022 and 2024 elections. Republicans in California are already following the Trump script on the recall and saying if they lose, the recall election was rigged.
