A short yet solid breakdown of how UT is getting paid by ESPN during the 24-25 season and is receiving $0 from the SEC revenue bucket.
I have not read it directly from any articles but there's speculation that this is in part because of the LHN ending. The one year lump sum is less than paying out the rest of the network's contract.
But it's interesting to see the following.
"The only redacted item in the agreement is the dollar amount of the deposit/application fee given to the SEC. The University and the Texas Attorney General deemed this too sensitive to fall into the hands of potential “competitors.” UCLA disclosed it paid the Big 10 a $15 million deposit and likewise, Oregon disclosed a $7.5 million deposit with the Big 10. No departing members of the Pac 12 paid deposits to the Big 12, with the University of Colorado receiving a $2.5 million signing bonus."
Let's be real; ain't no school receiving a signing bonus to enter a P2 conference. Oklahoma appears to be the tag along in this situation because I have not read a single thing about them receiving similar benefits while they lost out on some of their initial desires before moving to the SEC.
