Comparing KU and K-State

KU has 23 Kansans on the roster. Only 6 of them were recruited as scholarship players out of high school or JUCO. Another 2 have earned scholarships as walk-ons (Bell and Gibson). The remaining 14 players are walk-ons, with 4 currently either starting or seeing special teams action (Glatczak, Kahn, Plump and Schadler).

K-State has 52 Kansans on their roster. Including JUCOs and greyshirts, 19 were recruited as scholarship players. It can be confirmed that at least 8 walk-ons have earned scholarships (Bergstrom, Cook, Geary, Hubener, Kleinsorge, Tanking, Walsh, & Weber). Another 6 walk-ons are either in the two-deep or are special teams contributors meaning they are either now on scholarship or are positioned to possibly earn one (Barry, Clark, Converse, Couchman, Heiman, and Sexton). The remaining 18 players are walk-ons.

Notes

Stunningly to me, there is only one player from Wyandotte County (Colton Beebe) on a D-I roster.

The list includes both KC MO kids that attended Bishop Miege (Cozart) and Johnson County (Green & Gibson) kids that went to Rockhurst.

Although not graduating from Kansas high schools, Brady Bodine formerly of Conway Springs is a walk-on RB at North Carolina State and Kaare Vedvik, a former exchange student at McPherson, is a kicker at Marshall.
