I understand that LL's strategy is to allocate a certain number of scholarship slots by position, and that "when one slot opens up, say a TE, then another TE is sought to fill the opening". We also know that we're likely +1 over the 85 scholarship limit currently though presently recruiting new players in the portal.
Of the six scholarship TE's on the 2023 roster two are gone: Fairchild (graduated) and Huggins (portal). This coming FB season we should again have a total of six as we add Hanika (final year of eligibility) and Carsen Bruhn (freshman). Noa, Casey and Kardell are also in their final year of eligibility {although Kardell can use a redshirt year in 2025).
Finally, we expect some current players to leave after the bowl game. Not that I'm advocating Noa being one of these, but he did go through Senior Day festivities. If he did leave the team, it appears we have plenty of TE experience for 2024. Will be interesting to see who else leaves the team.
