Let's let it all out here folks. I'm currently reading 3 different books on the guy, trying to keep them paced chronologically.
To be honest, I have a strange affinity for the man. I mean, in many ways he's unforgivable--but to me this has less to do with Watergate as it is the precedent it set. Judged by those terms, every President since Reagan ought to have experienced such scrutiny.
I think the way Nixon the candidate handled civil rights was deplorable, but the way he governed, less so. This pattern repeats on so many issues...
History has shown obvious faults in every president, so I'm trying to look at the whole picture here.
