Facebook decided to punt hard decisions to an oversight board to shelter execs at the company. Trump, being the most high profile and powerful provocateur, was banned immediately following the coup attempt and Zucks punted the decision to the board to decide whether he should be banned permanently. He was their first test, as far as I know. The board today decided they didn't want to touch that hot potato so they punted it back to Zuck. I would have LOVED to have seen Zuck's emotionless face when he read that decision.
Regardless, I have no idea what they company will do. Personally, I think he should be banned for life as he provides little to no value to the platform. They are having to try to root out numerous conspiracies because of him, why give him a platform to make it worse? Their call ultimately.
