Quick story.
Someone posted that guy selling all that Memorial Stadium stuff on Facebook Marketplace a while ago. I reached out and asked about one of the light fixtures, which he said he was no longer selling as they were more trouble than they were worth.
I was bummed but said I understood and that I was just trying to find something to take home since I grew up in Memorial going to games with my dad.
He replied that he had “this” and sent a picture of John Hadl’s Ring of Honor plaque.
My family is a direct descendant of the Hadl family tree. John Hadl is my dad’s third cousin or something. My grandma’s maiden name was Hadl.
Had to have it to gift it to him for Christmas. He finally got to open it today after weeks of anticipation and I got him to shed some happy tears for the gift, the connection to his mom and family, and the memory of a place we loved!
