Quick Take: The Detroit/Michigan pipeline is real. If you could talk to the recruits who are from the area and hear what they say when they all see the Detroit players on the roster it makes a difference.

That played a big factor in Isaiah Marshall committing to Kansas. There were three factors:

- A pipeline forming in Detroit that is growing
- Chris Simpson’s relationship with people in Detroit
- Jim Zebrowski spending time with him and showing him the offense

Oh, and it doesn’t hurt the staff told him his game reminds them of Jalon Daniels.

Marshall took two unofficial visits to KU last year. One was to the Texas game and the other was for a junior day in December. Zebrowski took time after the Texas game to spend time with him and go over the offense. This was coming off a blowout loss at home and Zebrowski still showed him the attention after a tough game. There are some coaches who wouldn’t do that.

Simpson was the main factor in the recruiting. He knows the Detroit area and knows Marshall’s family. He stayed in contact with Marshall every week.

This is a great way to continue the 2024 class after just wrapping up signing for the 2023 class yesterday. The Jayhawks are now on the board with two quality commitments in the 2024 class.

Breakdown: Marshall’s film is fun to watch. He can do just about anything. He is mobile. He can throw on the run. He can throw with velocity and fit balls in tight windows. He can use touch.

He can be used for designed runs and is very good at keeping plays alive. He does a great avoiding pressure and feels the pocket.

After watching over his film, the most impressive thing he does in my book is throw on the run. He makes some nice throws rolling out and displayed arm strength.

Last year his numbers were impressive. He threw for over 2500 yards with 27 TD and ran for over 1000 yards with 18 TD. That right there shows what he can do.

The other thing that stood out was his style of game fits exactly what Andy Kotelnicki wants to do. And that is a little bit of everything.

What this means: Marshall is the best QB commitment the Jayhawks have landed dating back to when the Rivals rankings existed started in 2002.

There is a long way to go, and I would assume this will be the only QB taken in the class. But you never know if someone leaves, and they feel the need to look at one more. It is too early to tell but the position is in good hands with Marshall.
