Is Johnny Furphy a descendant of John Furphy (1842-1920), inventor of the mobile water tanks used by the ANZAC in WWI? His later years he settled in Melbourne, which is where our Johnny is from.
Or maybe from the elder JF’s younger brother, the author Joseph Furphy (considered the "Father of the Australian Novel”). But Joseph died in Western Australia, so I’m thinking the more likely ancestor is John, as Johnny is from Melbourne.
