Where are all the moderate voters?

Trump 35.6%, Cruz 19.8%, Carson 9% = 64.4%
Rubio 17.4%, Kasich 8.8% = 26.2

I was led to believe by the political "intelligentsia" on this board that only a moderate (Bush, McCain, Romney) could win the GOP nomination. Please explain where you went wrong.

I was also led to believe that only a candidate that supported amnesty could gain sufficient numbers of hispanics to win the nomination. Please explain why you were wrong.
