Did buying out Gill and Weis early gain us anything in the long run or did it just soften the inevitable landing like an economic stimulus? If we had allowed their failures to run full term what would have been the result? Probably more time for failure but would that failure have galvanized big donor support for positive change? There's also the small possibility that they turn it around and stabilized the program. Either way our big donors end up with more cash in their pockets for a downpayment on a Memorial Stadium renovation.
