Am stepping away for a few days but wanted to remind all that Memorial Day 2019 is a prelude to the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. Some of my Irish ancestors fought for the Union in the Civil War. A member of our family was in the D-Day landings. He survived thru the 50th but didn’t make it past 1997. He and I were different generations but long time hunting and fishing buddies. Another family member was in the troops that liberated the Philippines. He went to his grave with a great distaste for the Japanese after witnessing the carnage from them on the people of the Philippines. To all of them, our family remembers they destroyed evil at great risk and sacrifice. Freedom isn’t free. I hope our country never forgets that lesson.
