Hey all,
I just finished up exchanging some text messages with Charlotte big man Michael Thorne, Jr., the 6-foot-11, 270-pound center from Fayetteville, N.C. As most of you already know, Thorne, Jr., has decided to transfer out of Charlotte and is set to graduate on May 9. Because he's graduating, he'll be eligible to play right away next season.
So, Thorne, Jr., just told me that he did meet with Coach Bill Self today and the meeting between player and coach was excellent. Also, he said a visit to Kansas is highly likely, but at this time, nothing has been decided. During our exchange of text messages, I got the feeling that Throne, Jr., has a high amount of interest in Kansas.
Now that Bill Self has visited, Pittsburgh head coach Jamie Dixon is scheduled to visit tomorrow, and I'm guessing a number of other programs will visit Thorne, Jr., in Charlotte before he graduates on May 9.
This past season, Michael Throne, Jr., averaged 10.1 points, and 7.3 rebounds. Overall, he shot 53.4 percent from the field and 53.5 percent from the free-throw line.
