Suburban white women are not only leaving Trump they are being vocal about it. I live in Lenexa and I am constantly talking to other parents as I am waiting to pick up my kids from soccer, dance, etc. Four years ago I don’t remember ever talking politics while doing pick ups and now it is all anyone discusses. People, particularly the moms, are excited to talk about how much they hate Trump. I rarely hear them say they are definitely voting for Biden, but they are quick to denounce Trump. Even if they just stay home rather than voting for Biden this could be a significant shift from 2016.
There is no conservative come back or defense for Trump and the Republicans not having a viable health care plan yet. One of my neighbors is a very conservative doctor who works at KU Med. Absolutely great guy. Life long Republican who is a huge fan of ACB and loved her well before RBG’s passing. He has told me consistently that it is inexcusable that Republicans don’t have a health care plan a decade after the passing of the ACA. He doesn’t know if he will vote for Trump or not (he definitely won’t vote for Biden) but he says that he is currently embarrassed by the lack of leadership from his party.
Again, this is all anecdotal, but it has really surprised me how open people are this year to trash Trump. I was traveling a lot in 2016 and don’t recall this happening as much then. It will be interesting to see what the final turnout numbers look like and how the demographics have changed this time around.
