There is a ton of people close to the Trump orbit now coming out and saying, in essence, 'as bad as you think Trump is, he's actually worse in person.' You have of course the Atlantic piece, but there are also a slew of tell-all books coming out from everyone from Bolton to Cohen to Woodward. They all paint a picture of an awful human being who is horribly ill-equipped for the job.

The question I have is: will this actually mobilize his base and help Trump in the long-run? At some point, the cacophony of criticisms will just feed into the white noise that is par for the Trump white house. His base, however, will see it and feel like it's more attacks on their dear leader and rally around him even more than they already are. Honestly, the only way I think it hurts Trump is if it pisses him off so badly he pops off at the mouth in a way that genuinely hurts him. When he feels cornered, he tends to get more aggressive and petty and at some point there's the potential he'll seriously cross the line. (And admittedly I'm only talking about the roughly 10% who are soft Trumpers. The core Trumpers will support him regardless of anything he does.)

What are people's thoughts? Will the 'behind the scenes' stories impact Trump?
