When you look at 11 straight, it is crazy to think of how KU has been able to accomplish this, but yet there are a lot of fans from other teams who want to dismiss this as not being that big of a deal.
Recently, I saw one KSU fan say something like, "Well, they might have won the regular season title, but they didn't win the post-season Big 12 title as well. It always amazes me how a lot of fans think it's a bigger deal to get hot for three or four days instead of staying consistent through a whole conference season.
I also hear a lot of. "Well, if they played in a real conference like the ACC, Big 10, SEC, etc. they wouldn't have won it this many times in a row." This might be true, but the Big 12 is still one of the top three or four conferences year in and year out.
The best one is... "well, some of those titles are shared." This also coming from a K State fan. They should know a LOT about sharing titles, because they had no problem claiming a share in 2013 even though KU beat them both times. Aren't they known as Tied-l-town?
And, the amazing thing about those shared titles is that most were before everybody played each other home and away. In '05, they lost to OU in Norman. If they get the return game in Lawrence, then KU probably wins it outright. The same in '07 and '09 with Texas. If KU gets home games, they are probably outright champs. The great thing is that usually when they share a title, they back it up and win the conference tournament as well proving they are the better team. And, in 2013, there was no doubt KU was the better team as they won both games with K State and then won again in the Big 12 Tournament.
So, 11 straight years of winning or sharing a title is a big deal and something like this may take a long while to happen again with all of the parity in college basketball. And, with six postseason Big 12 titles in that same span, there is no doubt that KU is a great team and all of the jealousy and excuses from other fan bases needs to stop.
