  • Opened with comment about all the shootings going on. Beaty's dad was a police officer
  • Beaty said every coach that left, did so for good opportunities.
  • Beaty said every guy he hired he knew and even offered jobs before
  • Beaty said this is best off season he's been a part of. Team is bigger, faster, stronger and more focused
  • Beaty talked about QB. With Willis missing spring other guys got reps. Said Willis and Stanley had really good spring. The competition will go into fall camp. Once he sees a clear divider he will make decision. He hopes it is quick but it might not be.
  • Beaty said there is a foundation now where he can take more role with the offense. Said he worked with the offense already now has bigger role.
  • On goals....Beaty said his biggest ache was for the players, fans, and coaches last season. Said they were laying a foundation.
  • Beaty said they are focused the most important which is Rhode Island because it is the next one.
  • Beaty said the players know where they are headed and are excited.
  • Beaty said they are doing a $2.5 million renovation
  • On playing time with new guys....Beaty said because they were so down with numbers some young players arrive in the two deep just by numbers alone.
  • Beaty said they would like to redshirt but many will play. It is tough because some aren't ready. But they will get their "bloody noses" and grow from it
  • On Joe DeForest, Beaty said he has a ton of experience. Thrilled to have him on staff. Said he tried to get him a year ago but couldn't.
  • Beaty said he believes Bowen is one of the better defensive minds out there. Said it is hard to slow teams down in the Big 12.
