I'm about to go on a soapbox here so bear with me but this is what pisses me off about where college basketball currently stands because a handful of media members want to devalue a good education all because of the almighty dollar.

Jeff Goodman ESPN sent out the following tweet when it pertains to Wayne Selden returning to Kansas.

"I feel badly for Wayne Selden - we all (myself included) blew him up the summer before his freshman year and thought he might be 1-and-done."

Really? Really are you that lame that you feel bad for a kid for getting a free education at an excellent institution because he didn't jump to the NBA for a money grab whether he was ever qualified to do so or not?

The NBA Draft guys and media members like Jeff Goodman do nothing but put undue pressure and false hope with many of these kids long before they even hit the college hardwood. The fact that he feels sorry for Wayne makes it even more asinine and totally shows where many people's priorities lie when it comes to college athletics.

I understand the Jeff Goodmans and Soren Petros jobs center around what these kids do on the playing field but it's not their job to over hype and give false illusions about one's prospect for its future. Most of these kids that jump early won't make it in the league more than five years if that. Yes, there are a lot of talented basketball players that have shown enough on the court to go and make money in their profession but the fact the NBA Draft is based off of potential is a crock of shit.

To me being drafted into the NBA is a lot like getting hired for upper management by a large corporation. I don't know many employers looking for managers and supervisors hiring potential prospects before having any real work experience. That's what entry level jobs are made for. The fact the NBA is drafting off primarily potential seems like a recipe for disaster in the long run as very few of their employees make it. If I was an NBA GM I sure in the hell would like to see actual proof of what I'm getting before I take a gamble on a prospect. Unless you're an Andrew Wiggins or LeBron James and your athletic ability and skill set are through the roof, I want to see some seasoning in actual production before I'm taking you as my pick. The fact Wayne Selden didn't jump into the fire without being ready for a place like the NBA speaks volumes to me. The JP Tokoto, James McAdoo and Josh Selby's of the world better have a real good backup plan because they're not long for this line of work on what they showed on the court in the very limited time they were in college.

Sorry for the long post but I totally agree with Coach Self that these mock drafts for the NBA and Media members like Jeff Goodman do nothing but harm the college game and also make a mockery of a college education.
