Pols often pick up nuggets of, uh, truth in silly stories about politics. This is one of them. His wife Pam knew a boy in high school who wrote about A & W Root Beer. Back in the day A & W opened a root beer and burger place with car hops in their community. It was all the rage for months with people waiting to order a frosty mug. Some time later McDonald's opened and began to advertise a new bigger burger, the Quarter Pounder. This gave the management of the local at A & W a grand idea. They'd have frosty mugs plus a THIRD POUNDER. But the third pounder didn't go over and was a marketing flop. You see, a number of people didn't think it was as big as a Quarter Pounder.

My friend laconically noted, “This is why I don't argue with Trump supporters."
