If you went yesterday and had a chance to go on the field and talk with the kids, you realized this team meshes well personality wise. That starts at the top but also means a lot of kids on the team are generally good kids imo. Some of us were fortunate enough to have our kids go on the field and participate in a passing drill. My son was given a ball autographed by Beaty and with GC, NJ, and forsh as my witness, my 6yo son loves KU football (he was very pissed we weren't going to tailgate yesterday. Yesterday was one of the best days of his life with the way the kids interacted with him, etc.

Lots of times I think the #earnit has come to mean earn the success on the field. I have already been a pro Beaty guy (I had no respect for Gill and hated Weis early on). However, yesterday the players earned it with the fanbase that was there. No one was running around with a corny ass 4x4 wood block with family written on it. Instead, players were scrambling to find more gloves to give kids, hunting down kids that weren't paying attention to them to give high 5s and thank them for coming out.

Beaty's story is far from told at this point with his program. I'm not going to predict success or failure but after yesterday, we got a glimpse of what all of us crusty assholes that are mad about $$$$$ ruining sports what we think college sports should be. Maybe it isn't a coincidence we are seeing this program starting to take shape and image of a guy that came to KU for one of the lowest salaries in P5 football.

I know many players, parents, and coaches read this board...thanks for the hard work. Good luck this season. You made my son's life amazing yesterday. I could go on and on about random details, things I saw the coaches do/say with parents of the players...lots of great, not good, people in the program now. It has been a long time since that was the case.
