I know this has been a play many have hated so far this season, but yesterday I think we started to see some advancement out of this play package.
There was Steven Sims converting a 3rd down on one of these designed plays, but there was also some different options used out of this package. I remember one play, the RB motioned out behind two receivers setting up the screen, but they faked the screen and hit one of the WRs (Barbel) for around a 5 yard gain. Another time, they motioned the RB out to one side setting up that screen look again but ended up going to the other side of the field.
There was still some times where the play wasn't executed as well as we would have liked, but think we are seeing some progress with this. This is one way to get the ball into playmakers hands in open space, which is the goal of the Air Raid offense. Although it wasn't a screen, seeing that 67 yard gain from Quiv from a short pass (on 3rd and 7...) shows we want these situations. Seeing different options out of this play package, I think we are beginning to advance in this one area of the offense
