Game day Slant can be a bit much. I was not completely depressed leaving after this game, but we are going to have to be patient.
1. We lack talent and depth, we knew this coming in, so not shocked we are losing.
2. Cozart, on paper, should be a good QB. But, Reesing, on paper, shouldn't have even played D1 ball. Cozart has the size, speed, arm strength, look etc. But, he appears to lack passing touch, instincts, and the ability to read and react. He does not have "it."
3. Under Weis, our QB always had to throw into tight coverage. However, we now have guys open consistently, we just can't get them the ball. Cozart had multiple misses when guys were wide effing open.
4. RB, once again is solid, if not really good. Thank you Reggie.
5. Since Reesing left, it seems like every team we have played has a better QB than us (including FCS teams). Can we not get some QB walk-ons, spend a couple more schollies on QBs? When I watch other games, lower tier teams, losing teams, any teams, QB play really depresses me.
6. Our defense is bad, and it feels like more than just a lack of talent.
7. DL scares me as I don't see how it improves greatly over the next couple years unless we get some studs that contribute early.
8. Our secondary play has to get better because it can't get any worse. The cushion we are giving on the outside is crazy, no way they can close on the ball giving that much space.
9. Special teams are good. This alone should have people excited, huge improvement all around.
10. I will still be going to the games, still cheering hard and loud, still hoping it will all come together.
