For a Memorial stadium renovation, what features/amenities would you like to see?
For me, here's what I would look at doing.
-I'd demo the north and east sides
-I'd target a plan for ~50,000 seats to where it could be expanded to 55-60k some day
-on the east side, I'd build a lower section (say 8-10 rows) for the students (assuming it's permitted) that would go the length of the east side and then create a gap (so people could see over the students)
-we'd have chair backs between the 25s.
-new section of club seats and loge boxes (probably on east and North)
-modest number of new suites (primarily for big donors this time around)
-on east side I'd have an upper deck above the suites/club seats (east side would be much more of a vertical looking structure than what we have now)
-in the south end zone, I'd have low rise stands to enclose the stadium
-there would be new field club (another premium area) and team would walk through there on their way to field
-I'd have another field club area on the north end where maybe the suites could be rented by the game
-I wouldn't do much to the west side unfortunately outside of try to improve concessions, bathrooms, and new TVs. I think the current suite structure is too valuable and we probably about have that thing paid for.
-Also, on the south end I'd try to come up with a new area to try to better connect the area to the Hill. I've thought about a bricked area with monument park of KU football stars and coaches. I've also thought about setting up a new outward facing area (to the Hill) where it would be easy for food vendors to setup.
-There has to be a way to help facilitate turning the Hill into one of the great pregame locations in college football.
