Sioux Falls Mayor Tenhaken wants an enforceable shelter in place ordinance where 30% of our state lives. The county where we live is seeing double digit increase in virus infections daily. Cities are not allowed to have an enforceable ordinance like that. The Legislature just adjourned after defeating a bill to grant such authority. Our Governor dead ended a good start on addressing the virus outbreak by refusing to declare a state shelter in place emergency. And, of course, the very late, disjointed federal response hasn’t helped. Where is FDR, Ike, JFK or Reagan when you need one of them?
