So this past week Coach Yenser said in one of the interviews that they have been focused on making things simpler for the OL. I think that's a good thing.
But have they really done that?
In the previous two games, for the most part when they ran pull plays they were fairly simple. The center takes the guards guy and the guard goes around him. Nothing too crazy.
But things looked a little more complex to me against Memphis. One play in particular was around the 10:30 minute mark in the first quarter they ran a quick pass play to Sims one-on-one to the left...but the pulled the LG to take on the RT's guy. Now nothing bad blocking wise happened on that play...but why would you pull the LG all the way over to the right side especially when the ball is being thrown the opposite way? I understand that could possibly set up for future plays, but that is way opposite of keeping things simple like Coach Yenser was claiming this past week (especially compared to what they were doing the first few games IMO)
