I have professed often that I prefer the 4 wideout spread offense instead of jamming things up in the middle and running a QB sneak. Particularly with the OL we have this year.
Well, tonight, watching the Duke/Louisville game, I saw something that I would consider as an acceptable jam the ball up the middle play. Of course, it involves taking advantage of, in my opinion, a very stupid rule.
Duke lined up on a 4th and 1 with their QB under center. Lined up 2 yds behind the QB was a 290+lb lineman. At the snap, the lineman moved forward, had some momentum moving towards the line. The QB kept the ball on a QB sneak and the lineman hit the QB from behind and then pushed the QB ahead 2 - 3 yds.
If KU would run that kind of QB sneak, I can see running the play. Otherwise, with our line right now, I wouldn't consider it an option.
