There should be a good group of recruits on hand at practice today which will be at Rock Chalk Park.
Bryson Hayes said he wanted to attend a practice with David McComb and that will happen today. Both are expected to be on campus. I still think landing Hays will be tough.
Also visiting today is four-star RB Chad Gasper from Katy, Tex. He's got Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan and several offers. He confirmed to me yesterday he will be on campus.
Defensive end Dalton Knapp told me he will be at practice today and then take an unofficial after to meet with the coaches. The Jayhawks offered recently along with Utah.
Conlee Hovey a TE from Louisburg will visit and has not received an offer from the staff.
Next week Charlie Woleben will visit DE from De Soto. I have felt the Jayhawks had a good shot, but that has faded a little in recent weeks. He just picked up an offer from Kansas State yesterday and that will be added competition. But I think the leader right now is Iowa State. He wants to major in Engineering and they have a strong program. And his parents attended Iowa State. But ISU picked up a couple DE commits and I wonder if they are slow-playing him.
I had a good talk with Deuce Weston and will have more later, but he liked his visit to KU. He is from Lawndale High School where Jalon Daniels attended. The visit was string enough I think he comes back for an official. Will have more from his later.
Another recruit who had a good visit is Meyer Swinney and I will have more on him later. The TE from Minnesota said the same as Weston after taking an unofficial he will be back for an official.
Brandon Schmelzle got his first offer from Kansas last week and he told me it will be a day he will always remember. I will have more on him later after our discussion.
I am supposed to communicate with a few other prospects this weekend and will update when I get more info.
