60 Minutes had a great segment recently discussing an assistant football coach and his role in mitigating a school shooting in Ohio. The important thing from this is that the guy is just a good dude and we need more people like this in the world.

A secondary thing from this piece is how football can change people's lives. After the incident, he took a HC job at a nearby school that had discipline issues and is focusing on changing the culture there.

It makes me think about some of the recent concern with head injuries due to football and how parents are becoming scared to let their kids play the sport. I think it is an absolute legit concern and measures need to be taken to prevent such injuries in the future and am thus hopeful they do work on fixing this problem because football goes beyond just playing and watching the sport. From playing to rooting for a family member or close friend, there is so much more that football can do. Everything from paying for a kids school, teaching a kid valuable life lessons, and just being a part of something that is not just about yourself. This video really reminded me of that in the latter part...
