While this crisis is an easy opportunity to pick apart Trump, I think the most important aspect to getting through this is state and local leadership. Curious for all of you where you all live how governors and states are shaping up. From what I've witnessed:
Texas, Greg Abbott: Some criticism about availability of tests. Cut through some archaic state shipping laws and allowed food to be shipped with alcohol to help stores get replenished quicker. Has drive through tests in San Antonio and Austin up and going, promising Dallas and Houston soon. All in all seems to communicate well and I think has done pretty well through this so far.
Oklahoma, Kevin Stitt: Out on the town when people needed to start social distancing JFC
Ohio, Mike DeWine: Has been very aggressive in taking measures. Made controversial and hard decision to overrule judge and postpone primary today, which I think ultimately will prove to be correct response. I think he'll rate well when this is all done.
Illinois, JP Pritzker: Whined on Twitter about needing help from government (probably had some valid concerns, but do you want to convey an image that you're going to rely on Twitter pleas to address your problems?). Contrary to DeWine, kept polls open today, which I don't think will prove to be right decision. Quickly shut bars/restaurants down after people ignored guidance and got their party on throughout Chicago last Sat night, which is probably good decision. I lived in state when he was elected and he just seems weird. Has made some tough decisions early on in his tenure to address the myriad of state's issues, but is typical politically slimy and I question if has true leadership qualities or is just a rich kid that thought it would be cool to be governor.
West Virginia, Jim Justice: Let's go to Bob Evans everybody!!!!!
New York, Andrew Cuomo: Seems like he's communicated well and been decisive. Has extra burden of idiot mayor leading the country's largest city.
