I understand the argument that social media has been around for a short time, but the amount of information that the KU football program is spitting out is refreshing. Between the team’s webpages and accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Vine, and Instagram, I feel like Beaty is giving us a serious look into the development of “his” program. This can only help in gaining interest with future prospects, and the current and potential KU football fans and donors.
Knowing that he came from Texas A&M, I decided to look up more information about A&M. I can see that Coach Kevin Sumlin and the A&M football program utilize social media in a very productive way. The two biggest things are AggieFBLife, and The Pulse, their version of The Gridiron. Without question, Beaty is taking more than babysteps to utilize social media for the benefit of the football program.
My main questions are:
1. I’m new here on Jawhawk Slant. When was the last time this much positive exposure has come about Kansas football for the fans?
2. Based on history, what kind of expectations do you have, simply from the exposure standpoint of Kansas football?
3. How much can we allow ourselves to feel that much more optimistic about the football program, despite its overall history?
4. Obviously, a recreation of The Gridiron is absolutely desirable, but what are some other ideas that you want to be implemented for the program?
