Talked to a guy who is Power 5 coach , very familiar with Kansas .... his comments:
-if play Air Raid, and QB cannot or wont run, much much easier to defend
-not knowing Stark, it doesn't look like they have their guy there yet
-RBs and WRs plenty good, talent way better defensively than 18 months ago
-Air Raid popular and "hot", but shorter game would help them out a bunch
-they are doing what they can in the things they can control....better players, faster, bigger...and clearly the culture way better (this from talking to coaches in Big 12)
-"Kansas HAS to give him whatever time he needs...he has the connections"
-good strength program now, Jackson well known
-locker room superior now
-they play hard, no lack of player effort
-"he has a good staff....obviously muffed some of his staff initially, pretty typical of first time HC, showing physicality on defense for first time...becoming physical takes time!...."
-"you guys should be more positive....he took over a death penalty"
-his staff is good and his staff is talented....hope they do not get bummed out, losing is tough
-Kevin Wilson/Indiana fair comparison (Year 6), but Indiana did not have the numbers disaster Beaty inherited
-CU kind of the same, but they had WAY better numbers situation and Leavitt was key for them
-Beaty very very well liked
-they have stolen some of the Texas kids, surprised how well they have done "down South" so far
-"I think he will make it....next step is get games closer, next step win a few close ones....that never happens super fast, takes time...sometimes years"
Sometimes these guys stand up for each other , sometimes they stab each other in the back, this guys is a good guy not known for being super positive re KU since Mangino left
