It sounds like top 20 overall prospect Tate Martell is going to announce his college decision in a couple of weeks. As of right now, many think he will end up choosing Texas A&M. If he does, I think A&M could already be done at QB for that class, but if they aren't am not sure they could pull in another top arm for that class.
Which makes me think there is an opportunity to go after top 200 overall prospect Ty Brock. There are a few connections that KU could possibly take advantage of with him. Beaty and Kubiak are well tied into the College Station area, so that will help. He is also a teammate of current KU WR Jeremiah Booker.
When you watch his clips, you see a kid with a good frame a rocket arm. I wouldn't classify him as a sprinter or anything, but he is capable of running the ball. He also makes some very quick decisions and is able to throw on the run. We have offered a couple of other solid QB prospects in Jaylon Mascorro and Avery Davis for the 2017 class, so maybe they feel good about those guys and would prefer them, but I think there is an opportunity to grab a highly regarded kid with a lot of upside if they decided to pursue him...
