It's widely understood by we die-hard KUFB fans, that it is much more difficult for KUFB to climb out of its decade-long hole with a single division conference. Realignment could have a beneficial effect on KU regardless of what happens.

If KU gets picked up by the Big 10 (14 teams), Pac 12 (12 teams), or ACC (14 teams), there will be at least two divisions. That would hopefully get KU an extra non-conference game.

If KU is part of a revamped Big 12 with 12 teams (adding 4 teams), then there would be two divisions. That would hopefully get KU an extra non-conference game.

In the unlikely and unfortunate event that the Big 12 stays at 8 teams, that would still allow the addition of an extra 1-2 non conference games.

However, if the Big 12 just backfills with 2 teams, keeping the conference at 10 teams, then there's still the same number of non conference games. But the two new teams wouldn't be as strong as Texass and OU.

I know this post is full of glass-half-full, but this situation could help KU get to a bowl earlier than expected.
