Two Big 12 juniors - Iowa State's Georges Niang and Perry Ellis of Kansas have been announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as finalists for the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award. The Big 12 is the only conference with multiple players on the list.

Niang is leading Iowa State in scoring and ranks fourth among Big 12 players with 15.2 points per game. The All-Big 12 First Team selection has grabbed a career-best 5.4 rebounds to go along with 3.4 assists per game. He's shooting 41.2 percent behind the arc and 79.6 percent at the free throw line. He is the only junior in the nation with 1,400 points, 450 rebounds and 275 career assists.

Ellis leads Kansas in scoring with 14.2 points per contest, an average that ranks sixth in the Big 12. Also named to the all-conference first team, he ranks fourth in the Big 12 with a 7.0 rebounding average while shooting 47.1 percent from the field (sixth in the league). He has also connected at a .711 clip from the charity stripe.
