It looks like we have the Big 10 and SEC that will be separating themselves from the other three P5 conferences. Those two have conference networks that are doing really well. The PAC 12 network is struggling and I'm not sure how well ACC's will work. And we know the Big 12 issues in this area. Interesting story today about where PAC 12 stacks up.
....
I should note at the top and neglected to mention it in the series at least $5 million per school this year - their first year of existence.
My initial reaction: Whoa!!! $5 MILLION PER SCHOOL?!?!
That's approx $4 million more than the Pac-12 Networks are expected to distribute to each school in this, their third year.
And that, in turn, got me thinking about the bigger picture, and how the Pac-12 will stack up on the revenue front to the SEC, with its network, and to the Big Ten, which will begin a new Tier 1 deal in a few years.
In this post, I'll compare the Pac-12 projected TV revenues to those peer conferences.
It's not a comforting situation for the league.
