One area KU really needs to improve this year

I think you can argue several different areas KU needs to get better at, but reading this article yesterday and it is clear KU needs to do a better job at taking advantage of turnovers, as this article shows KU was 9th in the Big 12 last year in number of points scored off turnovers compared to how many points they gave up on turnovers.

There were some surprising numbers from the defense last year. The D was 55th in the nation last year in sacks per game, which I would think gets even better with Armstrong/Wise/Dineen (among others) have a year of experience under their belts. KU was also 5th in the nation in fumble recovery percentage (granted they ranked in the 100s in number of fumbles forced). So I think things like that indicate we can create opportunities to create turnovers...but we have to create more turnovers this year, both in terms of interceptions and forced fumbles.

There are two sides of the equation here, though, and it is also true the offense has to do a better job of taking care of the ball and also do a better job of scoring off these turnovers.

I think of all the areas I hope KU improves on this upcoming season, and there are a lot, doing a better job of this is near the top of my list. If we don't improve upon this, we are just putting ourselves in a bigger hole than we need to be, which we can't be doing right now...
