BREAKDOWN
On paper, this might look like the strongest returning group on the team. We all know what Fish accomplished last year. Tyrone Miller being added to the group helps and group of seniors with experience in Shaw/Graham/Bates/Allen helps. I think with the addition of Miller at safety, it takes some pressure off of Fish such that he doesn't have to make as many plays as he did last year which should make him more efficient. I also felt like Bates started to come on at the end of last year. Greg Allen is a guy that I could end up being way off on as I had really high expectations of him out of HS, but does have one last year so maybe can do what Dexter Linton did a couple of years ago where he had a solid senior year. And then there is the NB spot. Last year that seemed to rotate between Tevin Shaw primarily with Chevy Graham coming in at times. Shaw is a strong dude, but covering at times has been a problem for him. Check out some clips of KJ Dillon from WVU to get an idea of what I think they want from the spot. In order to solidify this group, we need solid play from the NB spot. So my hopes are Shaw has improved in the coverage area this offseason and has a solid season. But my darkhorse for the spot is Ian Peterson. A little bit undersized right now, but the kid has corner speed and isn't afraid of contact. I think the has the potential to be the NB of the future, although am not sure we will see that this year. Bright future for him and also wouldn't be surprised if Torneden played some snaps this year to get him ready for next year when there will be a lot of playing time available.
