I am wondering what the plan will be on offense on Friday night given (1) the Illinois game struggles, (2) our relative lack of success running the ball against UNLV last year and (3) our success through the air against UNLV. I do think they will try to load the box again, but I wonder if part of our struggles last year had to do with Puni sitting out the bowl game. In any event we will need Jalon to be better and hopefully mix in some middle of the field/intermediate routes in place of some of the deep sideline routes (especially since UNLV seems to have added a lot of secondary pieces from P4).
What do we think the best way to attack them will be?
And just to get ahead of the criticism here - I was most upset at Grimes' playcalling at Illinois because of the lack of running *when it was working* not just the lack of running in a vacuum. I know @HawksJ will be ready to come after folks on the board if we run a lot this week, it doesn't work and folks are upset. In other words, let's hope they do what works and if works, keep doing it.
