New York City opens nation's first supervised injection site to help curb overdose deaths

* Users aren't allowed to bring in their own paraphernalia, sterile needles and paraphernalia is supplied
* The dope you buy on the street can be tested for fentanyl or god knows what
* Less dirty needles on the street as these are properly disposed of
* Users have access to treatment programs and counseling if desired

They've had these in Europe and elsewhere for years. Overdoses alone are straining the NYC health care system and costs it $50MM/year. This is a smart, fiscally conservative program as the cost of these centers will result in millions saved annually.
