I know many of you are fine with the Tennessee governor declaring this week Nathan Bedford Forrest day, Confederate Decoration Day, and Robert E. Lee day, but I really don't see how we can consider it okay to continue to celebrate and honor a group of people and nation who started a war with the US, seceded from the Union, and did it all so they could keep people enslaved. Should we also celebrate and honor John Wilkes Booth? He struck a great blow for the South.
People lose their minds over Chelsea Manning or a black man expressing his opinion on a flag, but fight tooth and nail to keep statutes honoring people who did infinitely worse things to the nation.
